This is a great BBC radio play of Dracula! David Suchet is absolutely CHILLING as Dracula, and Tom HIddleston's voice -- well, I'd listen to him read the phone book, frankly, but he also does a great job as Jonathan Harker. The script varies somewhat from the book, but not in any important areas. Let's face it, it has to, because it's a play; they have to have someone speaking about what's happening, instead of reading the description of the action. I would have given it 5 stars, but I find that the volume is very soft in some sections, and I had to turn it up extremely loud in order to be able to understand what was being said. That's the ONLY reason it's not getting 5*s, because it really is quite marvelous.
The sexual content is mild ( discussion of "the act" and some moaning, nothing explicit ), and the violence is a vampire gets staked.
The Dracula story was among the greats of literary history. I found this adaptation very dull. A horror story that literally put me to sleep.
I love listening to this one.
